Terms of Use

Last updated: August 15, 2026

These terms are meant to set reasonable expectations for using NetworkTools. If you use the site, you agree to use it lawfully and to verify anything that could affect a production network.

Use of the site

NetworkTools provides calculators, reference material and configuration helpers for informational and engineering-support purposes. You may use the site for personal, educational and commercial network work as long as that use is lawful and does not interfere with the site or other visitors.

Engineering results need review

We work to keep the tools accurate, but a calculator cannot know your full design, vendor release, contract language, topology or change-control requirements. Results should be independently checked before they are used in production. Generated configuration is a draft, not a vendor-certified or pre-approved change.

Do not submit sensitive information

Do not enter passwords, private keys, authentication tokens, confidential customer information, proprietary credentials or other secrets into the tools. If you use the configuration comparison feature, redact sensitive values first.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, bypass security controls, overload the service, introduce malicious code, scrape the site in a way that materially affects availability, or use NetworkTools to support unlawful activity. The site may block traffic that appears abusive or threatens availability or security.

Availability and changes

NetworkTools may change, add or remove tools and content over time. We do not guarantee that every page or feature will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, hosting problems, software changes and other events can temporarily affect access.

Network News and third-party content

The Network News page uses public RSS or Atom feeds from selected publishers. Headlines, excerpts and linked articles remain the property of their respective publishers. NetworkTools provides source attribution and links readers to the original article rather than republishing the full work. Feed availability, wording and publication schedules are controlled by the source.

Third-party services

The site uses third-party services, including Google AdSense for advertising and the providers used for hosting, DNS, security or content delivery. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. External links are provided for convenience and do not make NetworkTools responsible for the content of another site.

Limitation of responsibility

You are responsible for deciding whether a result is appropriate for your network or use case. To the extent allowed by law, NetworkTools is not responsible for outages, configuration errors, lost data, lost revenue, SLA penalties or other damages that result from relying on the site without appropriate validation.
